Paragliding Matterhorn: The Alps From a Different Angle
Almost everyone who visits Zermatt photographs the Matterhorn from the village. Far fewer see it from the air, level with the glaciers, with the whole valley falling away beneath their feet.
A tandem flight with SkyGirl puts you there. Every flight is run by Julika Giles, a Swiss-certified tandem pilot who has flown in Zermatt since 2010, has more than 3,000 flights under the Matterhorn, and is the only female tandem pilot in the resort. You fly with her — not with whichever pilot happens to be on the rota that morning.
Tandem Paragliding Zermatt: No Experience Needed
Tandem paragliding Zermatt flights are made for people who have never flown before. Julika handles the wing. Your part is a short briefing, a few running steps off the slope, and then sitting back in the harness as the glider lifts and the ground drops away.
Passengers need to weigh between 30kg and 90kg. Helmet, gloves and a flight suit are provided free of charge — bring warm layers and shoes with decent grip. From the meeting point to landing back in Zermatt, allow around 1.5 hours, or closer to 2 for the Elite.
Choose Your Matterhorn Paragliding Flight

Scenic — CHF 190. Take-off from Blauherd or Riffelberg at 2,600m, 15–20 minutes in the air. Summer only.

Classic — CHF 240. Take-off from Rothorn, Gornergrat or Rotenboden at 3,100m, 20–25 minutes. The most popular choice.

Elite — CHF 420. Take-off from Klein Matterhorn at 3,850m, 30–35 minutes — Europe's highest tandem take-off, straight off the glacier.
Lift tickets are not included, so bring your Peak Pass, ski pass, SwissPass or half-fare card to keep that cost down. Photos and videos are CHF 40 and go straight to your phone after landing — you only decide once you have seen them.
What Makes the Best Paragliding Zermatt Experience
The best paragliding Zermatt flights come down to conditions and judgement. Julika has been reading this valley's weather since 2010 and flies only when it is right. If the wind or cloud is wrong on your day, she will reschedule you where possible, or refund the flight in full. Cancel 24 hours or more before your slot and you are not charged.
